Marine Engineer (m/f/o)

Tasks

• Monitor and Review operation of plant equipment and systems constantly to minimise unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and to identify opportunities for improvement
  
• Assist in the overall management of the UNEC Servicing garage whilst managing all garage personnel
  
• Ensure equipment is well maintained and repaired
  
• Communicate regularly with maintenance technicians both individually and as a group to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues
  
• Maintain and update operating and training manuals for the maintenance department
  
• Ensure that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures
  
• Assist with the hiring of maintenance personnel
  
• Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs
  
• Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner
  
• Ensure that the company time recording procedures are complied with
  
• Responsible for quality assurance and commissioning of vehicles
  
• Establishes and maintains a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment
  
• Prepare reports, analyse data and makes recommendations for improving operations and solving maintenance-related problems
  
• Participate in objective setting, plan development and performance review
  To ensure all documents are kept and filed in accordance with company procedures
  
• Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment
  
• Attend customer needs and schedule regular visits to existing and potential customers
  
• Provide advice and develop business strategies on how to optimise the business as well as generate new business
  
• Design and oversee testing, installation, and repair of marine apparatus and equipment
  
• Conduct analytical, environmental, operational, or performance studies in order to develop designs for products, such as marine engines, equipment, and structures
  
• Maintain and coordinate repair of marine machinery and equipment for installation on vessels
  
• Inspect marine equipment and machinery in order to draw up work requests and job specifications
  
• Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
  
• Any other duties commensurate with the level of this post, as may be assigned from time to time 

Requirements

• Be in possession of an Undergraduate Engineering Degree, preferably in either Mechanical or Marine Engineering
  
• Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing in Maltese and English, in order to be able to report adequately to superiors and to form good relations
  
• Ability to work effectively in a team, including the ability to respond to the needs of team members and provide them with assistance when and as required
  
• To be able to work under pressure and with minimal supervisio
  
• To be open and honest at all times
  
  
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with third parties
  
  
• To have a flexible approach to work commitments at all times
