TTI is seeking a Head of Accounts & Tax for one of our top clients based in Malta. Our client is a leading professional services firm specialising in audit, tax, advisory, legal, and corporate services.
Tasks
- Lead and oversee the Accounts & Tax department, including the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and performance reports
- Manage a portfolio of local and international clients across accounting, VAT, tax, and advisory matters
- Review management accounts, financial statements, VAT returns, tax computations, and related reporting deliverables
- Advise clients on Maltese tax legislation, international tax matters, EU directives, double tax treaties, transfer pricing, and financial reporting obligations
- Manage and oversee tax and accounting compliance for corporate and individual clients
- Provide accounting, tax, and business advisory support to clients across various industries
- Drive new business opportunities in accounting and tax advisory and support partners with client pitches and proposals
- Build, mentor, and manage a team of accounting and tax professionals, providing guidance and technical training
- Manage workflow allocation, departmental deadlines, and team performance
- Stay abreast of changes in local and international accounting and tax legislation, advising clients and internal teams accordingly
- Foster strong relationships with clients, tax authorities, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements, efficiencies, and service enhancements within the department
Requirements
- University degree in Accountancy, Law, or a related field
- Recognised professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, or warranted Accountant/Lawyer)
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience within accounting and taxation, preferably within a professional services environment
- Strong knowledge of Maltese accounting standards, VAT legislation, Maltese tax legislation, EU directives, and cross-border issues
- Proven track record in managing advisory projects, client portfolios, and departmental operations
- Previous experience leading and mentoring teams
- Excellent leadership, client relationship, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
- Proficiency in English and Maltese
